The chord progression of our single had been taken from a composition that had already been written by our lead guitarist. After taking a few scratch recordings and having a jam session, we decided to develop the chord progression some more so that it was more unique and memorable by adding licks and solos to take the song to a different dimension. We did this by, in our jam session, playing the most recent recording we had on my phone and playing licks that we thought would sound good until we found one that suited the song. As we were doing this our lead singer was humming along to the song to think of a melody, before creating lyrics that made sense and fit the melody.
