Music Theory: for this I will be focusing on my knowledge of the circle of fifths, relative minors or majors, and inversions. I think that this will help me to be able to produce and develop original chord progressions more easily as it is currently something that I struggle with. The best way for me to go about this will be to create posters because I learn things quicker if I can visualise it. In my free time I could also work on inverting chords on manuscript paper for different keys.

Creating an atmosphere in a song: the easiest way for me to overcome this will be to listen to different genres of music taking note of the types of instrument and how they are played. I will also try learning different genre songs on my bass guitar as it will help me to develop my playing techniques.
- 31/10/18- I have started to write an analysis of different songs of different types of the same genre. I have included blues/rockabilly, pop rock, alternative and indie rock.
- 07/10/18- I’ve written in more detail what types of instruments are used and how they are played.
Gaining confidence in the studio: as you may already know our project is to have a single released and recorded. Hopefully the more times I book the studio to record my groups original the more confident I will be by the end of the school year when it comes to setting up mics and transferring the sound from the instrument to the DAW (digital audio workshop).
- I’ve included in my weekly blogs what I had learned in the studio each week we were in there.
Familiarising myself with music from different eras: I will combine my work for this obstacle with my work from “creating an atmosphere in a song”. I will include the era and the types of instruments and the brands they would have used when performing that song live.
Be able to use logic without assistance: as I continue to use logic in lessons, this will help me to gain more confidence with what I’m doing. I will also stay after college a few days a week to catch up on any of the work I was unable to complete in time.
- 5/11/18- in class today I managed to pick out the sample for the piano section in “praise you” by Fatboy Slim. I then stayed behind class to get the sample for the vocal part.
- 6/11/18- today I picked out the sample for the bass line from “praise you”.
