Type of event:

There are going to be varying genres of music at this single showcase such as funk, soft rock, indie, alternative and some pop songs- ideal for everyone as there is a mixture of songs. Due to there being no set genre, we decided to call this event the “Shuffle play Single Showcase”. This concept will hopefully help us to attract as many people as possible as the songs vary in style.

Choice of venue:

Our choice of the venue is the Cinnabar in Torquay. For a pub, it is reasonably large and has new-found artists performing gigs there all of the time- making it perfect for us to release our single there. The venue is open from 12pm to 1:30am which is good for those who are out to have a fun time. Our target audience is those who are just going to sit and eat food and not really pay attention to the event, we want people to be there to be engaged in the music and have a good time.

This type of event has been chosen because there is no place in Torbay that openly promotes new artists, and we have needed to find a way to fall into the comfort zone of landlords by playing covers with our original material hidden away in the set.

The Cinnabar is in an area that is central to most of the members performing so it is an advantage because it is easy to get there with our equipment. We also found that it will be easy for the audience to travel there and to find as it is in  a town centre.

Risk assessment of venue:

• The stage is slightly raised and can therefore be a trip hazard and could make it hard to lift heavy equipment.
• There are going to be multiple cables and electrical equipment on and at the front of the stage so there is a risk of electrocution.
• It is in a pub meaning that people will be drinking- the drinks could easily get spilt onto some of the equipment and break it.
• The stage is quite small so band members could bump into one another, either hurting themselves or damaging their instruments if not careful.
• There is no gap between the stage and the audience so if the pub is full people could get pushed and shoved into the stage, and could hurt themselves

Demographic of audience:

The demographic of the audience is going to be one of over 18 as there will be alcohol but this will not apply for what we are trying to sell our single as.
